About us  

We've enjoyed making music together since before our marriage in 1997. We bring experience, creativity

and passion to all our activities as performers and instructors. We love everything we do: every concert

performance, wedding ceremony and studio lesson is special to us  –  not "just a gig."

Trilla Ray-Carter

is the founder and artistic director of the Kansas City Baroque Consortium, a widely acclaimed ensemble specializing in historically informed performance of music from the Renaissance and the Baroque era. Trilla has served as Adjunct Professor of Strings at Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri, KCK Community College, and at William Jewell College. She has performed and taught throughout Europe and has participated in summer festivals in Italy, the former Yugoslavia, and Baden-Baden, Germany. Before returning to the Midwest in 1993, she worked in Los Angeles as a studio musician with numerous film and television credits. Trilla is active as a cello soloist, chamber and orchestral performer, ensemble and event contractor, studio teacher, festival clinician, and licensed Kindermusik® instructor.

Monty Carter

has been a professional violinist, violist, studio teacher, ensemble clinician and festival adjudicator in the Kansas City area for twenty years. He is Concertmaster of the Heritage Philharmonic, Principal Violist and Program Annotator for the Saint Joseph Symphony, and Baroque Violinist in the Kansas City Baroque Consortium. Devoted to teaching and creating enjoyable materials for students, Monty is the recipient of the 2017 Studio Teacher Award from the Missouri chapter of the American String Teachers Association. He has taught string studies at Benedictine College, KCK Community College, Missouri Western State University, and Northwest Missouri State University.

Carray Music

is Carter + Ray = lovely music! We offer performance services for wedding ceremonies, receptions, celebrations, concerts, commemorations, corporate events and parties.

 

We provide

•  solo violin, viola, or cello

•  duos, trios, and string quartets

•  trio or quartet of flute & strings

•  chamber ensembles, including piano or organ, harp,

     trumpet, and vocalists

•  large ensembles, including full symphony orchestras

 

The musicians who join us are cherished colleagues with whom we have performed extensively and who love playing for weddings and events as much as we do!
